With only three major states and a few union territories, this part of India is not as large as the others. However, it is home to some of the oldest cities of the country that have historical significance. Beautiful beaches and deserts also adorn this region.

Once known as the summer capital of the Bombay province, Mahabaleshwar is a small hilly town in the forested Western Ghats. It is a plateau region enveloped within valleys. It is the birthplace of the river Krishna and 6 others. 

The town is home to some exotic tourist locations like the age-old Pratapgad Fort, the Lingmala Waterfalls, and the Venna Lake. The spring season covers the entire town in greenery, a view that soothes the eyes. You can easily get to this place from Mumbai and Pune. For people living in the hustle-bustle of big cities, a getaway to Mahabaleshwar can be a relaxing experience.

A state in western India, Goa is full of life and is the favorite holiday destination of Indians as well as foreign tourists. Watching stunning sunrises from the cool breezy beaches is something worth experiencing. 

The state celebrates the Shigmo festival in March. So, you can have fun at this festival. Other than beaches you can also visit temples, churches, monuments, or spending your time on the cruise. The Portuguese culture is conserved in the churches of this place and also the tropical spices. Goa has a lot of water sports too for visitors to enjoy.

Junagadh is one of the oldest Indian cities, located in Gujarat. This is a place that was ruled by the Babi Nawabs till India got its independence in the year 1947. The city is full of historical structures that include forts, monuments, mosques, Hindu and Buddhist temples, and much more. 

Now the significant attraction, however, is the Gir National Park located very close to the city. The park is packed with tourists for spotting the Asian Lions that roves in the jungle. The jungle safari is much loved by tourists of all ages.

A small village in the princely state of Rajasthan, Bundi is a place of historical importance. It is a land of monuments and forts that are a legacy of the Rajput rulers. An interesting structure is the Baori or water reservoir. Some popular tourist spots in this place are the Taragarh Fort, Sukh Mahal, and Raniji Ki Baori.  

The charm of the city lies in the small lanes running across the village, bordered by beautiful blue houses. You can spot a temple in almost every lane of Bundi. If you want to enjoy the traditional meal of the Rajasthani, Bundi will satisfy your taste for it.
