What is Art, and Its Importance in Life

It may be tough for us to comprehend the true purpose and meaning of art many times. We often think does it really matter? Do it really serve any real purpose? These questions may trouble more to those with humble financial resources.

I believe that true Art does not have any fixed definition or criteria. It is not only about some illustrious painting or melody. Art surrounds us all. Most often you will find art more around the common simple folks. Those who consider themselves most oblivious of art are the ones who are closest to it. The way we keep our home and conduct our lives is all practicing art.

The cliched aspect of these are commodified and standardized to some extent and they become familiar to us all in a similar way. This part gets more accepted as an artwork.

How to approach Art?

In the end, it is about the sensibilities of mankind and the feelings a particular action may evoke. A walk along the paddy field cannot be less important than its picture. A flute player cannot be expected to outdo the chirping of the birds. But there is one factor that is more important when an artist tries to evoke the same effect. That is the human effort.

When an artist creates, it is not an isolated creation. That piece, whatever it may be – a painting, a building, a song, is connected to several aspects of human history. It evokes a sensation that is not superficial but penetrates to the very core of consciousness. This connection and belongingness make a work magnificent. It makes it timeless.

Importance in Life

Not every art needs to be done on a grand level. Taking your time out to hum yourself a song is also an art, walking towards the home with a different and happy walk after a long day of work is art, filling your home with things you love decorating your house with them, is art. Art is not something you pursue, art is something that connects you with the outer world and inner self better at the same time.

The pinnacle of creation is when a particular work resonates with the sensibilities of a wider audience and is able to uplift even the subject matter. Although it cannot be expected from every work. Most of us anchor our lives and find solace in the creative manifestations around us. These creative manifestations not only give meaning to life but sometimes provide a higher purpose.
