Hetaleulee Dance of Nagaland

Like the Fly dance, Cricket dance and cock dance, Hetaleulee dance also mimics the movement of an animal. This dance resembles the movements of a bear. That’s why it is also referred to as the Bear Dance.

Hetaleulee dance was earlier performed by the tribes of Nagaland after they have defeated their foes. It is a war dance and is performed only by the men. The movements are fierce and energetic. The music is also an energetic one that makes the performance even more interesting.

The dancers dress up in traditional attire and carry weapons as they move to the drumbeats. Hataleulee dance is a celebration of triumph, and people enjoy the show by clapping hands and hymn chanting to inspire the dancers.
